It began in the third grade. I loved ice-skating and was thrilled when I received a new pair of figure skates for Christmas and could retire my brother's old hockey skates. I broke my leg the first day out. In school I couldn't go out to play for recess so the teacher gave me some colored chalk and allowed me to "paint" on the blackboard. So standing awkwardly on my cast I began my love of the creative process.
I have degrees from Northeastern IL University and the CO Institute of Art. I taught Art in public and private schools in the US and Brazil. I have studied with great mentors, Charles Sovek, Gerald Merfeld, Chen Chee NY, Barbara Bash NY, and more recently, Pamela Caughey with Oil and Cold Wax. I am so grateful. I have also worked in the field of commercial design.
Today my artistic endeavors are devoted to the Fine Arts. I have gradually allowed my art to be expressed abstractly, and I am loving creating nonobjective paintings. My work- in oil, cold wax, acrylic, and watercolor- is exhibited regularly in galleries and regional shows.
I am a signature member of the Western CO Watercolor Society and the Plein Air Painters of CO (PAAC). I am an "Outsider", a member of a west-slope group with whom I paint, exhibit and hang out.
