
Mary Ellen Andrews, (aka Schwenk) a resident of Ridgway, CO, holds degrees from Northeastern Ill. University and the Colorado Institute of Art. She has studied, and continues to do so, in graduate programs and workshops in the US and Brazil. She taught Art in public and private schools here and in South America. Additionally, she has worked in the field of commercial design.
Today she devotes her artistic endeavors to the Fine Arts. She paints what she loves: the landscape near her home in the San Juan Mts., the villages in Europe where she travels, and people--intensely involved in their work. She enjoys using shapes, colors, brushwork, according to her artistic and emotional sense.
Mary Ellen is a signature member of the Western CO Watercolor Society and the Plein Air Artists , CO, She is also a member of the "Outsiders", a west-slope group with whom she travels, paints and exhibits. Her work is represented by the Meerdink Gallery in Ouray, CO, the Blaire Carnahan Gallery in Santa Fe, NM and the Arts at Georgetown Gallery in Georgetown, CO.
